From a nostalgic journey on the famous Bluebell Railway and the vibrant city of Brighton, to the historic towns of Battle and Hastings, this holiday combines stunning scenery, seaside charm and fascinating history with plenty of time to explore and unwind.
The elegant Lansdowne Hotel enjoys a wonderful seafront location in Eastbourne, overlooking the Western Lawns and the coast. This traditional hotel offers comfortable bedrooms, a stylish restaurant, relaxing lounge areas and easy access to Eastbourne’s promenade, shops and attractions.
Day 1
We travel to Eastbourne with comfort stops en route.
Day 2
A day to explore Eastbourne, with its award-winning seafront, famous Carpet Gardens, elegant Victorian promenade, harbour, boat trips and iconic 1930's Bandstand. You may also wish to visit nearby Beachy Head, the UK's highest chalk sea cliff.
Day 3
This morning we enjoy a nostalgic journey on the Bluebell Railway from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead, travelling through the beautiful Sussex countryside on one of Britain's best-loved heritage railways. This afternoon, we spend free time in Brighton, where you can explore the famous Lanes, browse the independent shops or relax by the seafront.
Day 4
After breakfast, we visit the historic town of Battle, where the famous battle of 1066 took place. This afternoon, we continue to the seaside resort of Hastings. From Britain's steepest funicular railway to the winding alleyways of the Old Town, there's plenty to discover before returning to our hotel in time for dinner.
Day 5
After breakfast, we begin our journey home, making comfort stops en route.
