Hotel Entertainment, Entry to Brodick Castle, Isle of Arran Whisky Distillery Tour, Visit Largs, Visit Bute, Entry to Mount Stuart House & Gardens, Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Visit Troon.
We start our journey and head to our overnight hotel in Gretna.
After breakfast we travel to Ayrshire for the ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick on the Isle of Arran, and continue to the Best Western Kinloch Hotel in Blackwaterfoot for a 3 night stay.
It is easy to see why the Isle of Arran is often referred to as 'Scotland in Miniature', with its constantly changing landscape of highland glens and rugged mountains alongside sweeping sandy bays and picturesque coastal villages. Discover Arran on a scenic circular tour around the island and visit Lamlash, with views to Holy Island, and Lochranza, home to a 16th century castle. Here we visit the Isle of Arran Whisky Distillery for a tour.
Discover Brodick, the island's capital, and its castle which houses a collection of paintings, porcelain and furniture, while the grounds boast a walled garden, Ice House and Bavarian Summer House. This afternoon, relax in the picturesque surroundings of your hotel or enjoy a dip in the indoor pool.
We head for the ferry from Brodick to Adrossan, we then continue our journey north to the charming seaside resort of Largs, located on the Firth of Clyde, complete with Victorian promenade and a choice of ice cream parlours and shops. We then travel to the Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irving for our 3 night stay.
We cross the Firth of Clyde on the ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay in Bute. For such a compact island, Bute has some extraordinarily varied landscapes. From the lush, fertile and rolling hills of the island's heart to the craggy, heather-covered moorlands of the north and the delightful sandy beaches around the coastline, the island is a haven for wildlife. We visit Mount Stuart & Gardens in the afternoon before heading back to Irving for our evening meal and entertainment.
This morning we visit Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Alloway where you will visit the humble cottage where Robert Burns was born and spent the first years of his life. We then head to the seaside/golf resort of Troon. Troon is situated on the south Ayrshire coast and boasts stunning, sandy beaches with magnificent views. The town also offers a wealth of charming independent cafes, as well as a range of unique boutiques and shops.
The wonderful Scottish scenery does not stop yet as we travel back through Dumfries, Galloway & the Scottish Borders heading for our overnight hotel in Lancashire.
Sadly it is time to head home, making plenty of comfort stops on our route.
