We start our journey and head to our overnight hotel in Lancashire.
After breakfast we travel to Ayrshire for the ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick on the Isle of Arran, and continue to the Best Western Kinloch Hotel in Blackwaterfoot for a 3 night stay.
It is easy to see why the Isle of Arran is often referred to as 'Scotland in Miniature', with its constantly changing landscape of highland glens and rugged mountains alongside sweeping sandy bays and picturesque coastal villages. Discover Arran on a scenic circular tour around the island and visit Lamlash, with views to Holy Island, and Lochranza, home to a 16th century castle. Here we visit the Isle of Arran Whisky Distillery for a tour.
Discover Brodick, the island's capital, and its castle which houses a collection of paintings, porcelain and furniture, while the grounds boast a walled garden, Ice House and Bavarian Summer House. This afternoon, relax in the picturesque surroundings of your hotel or enjoy a dip in the indoor pool.
Head for the ferry from Lochranza to Claonaig, on Kintyre. Travel to the picturesque harbour village of Tarbert, which has become popular as a yachting destination, but still has its own fishing fleet. With wonderful views over Loch Fyne, continue north into Argyll. Where we journey across the 'Atlantic Bridge' to Seil Island, before heading to our new home for the next 3 nights, the Royal Hotel, Oban.
The Island of Mull awaits on today's tour. Cross the Firth of Lorne on the ferry from Oban to Craignure on Mull. The Isle of Mull is the second largest island in the Inner Hebrides. We make our way to Tobermory - the islands capital! Tobermory's most distinctive feature lies in the brightly painted frontages of many of its buildings.
Today we have a free day to explore the coastal resort of Oban, which is known as the 'Gateway to the Isles' and the 'Seafood Capital of Scotland', with its many award-winning restaurants. Whilst in Oban, why not stroll along the Esplanade, visit McCaig's Tower which overlooks the town, or enjoy a wee dram at the distillery and visit the War & Peace Museum.
The wonderful Scottish scenery does not stop yet as we travel back through the Scottish Borders heading for our overnight hotel in Lancashire.
Sadly it is time to head home, making plenty of comfort stops on our route.
