The Best Western Burn Hall Hotel is a wonderful Victorian country house hotel, set in 8 acres of gardens and parkland. Nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire, the hotel is packed full of personality and countryside character.

Day 1
With a morning departure we will make our way to York with suitable comfort stops on route. Arriving at the hotel early evening.

Days 2 - 4

  • Today we visit Castle Howard, one of England's grandest Baroque mansions. Set within 1,000 acres of breathtaking landscape, enjoy lavishly decorated rooms, stunning architecture, idyllic gardens and lakeside walks. We will continue our journey to the traditional market town of Thirsk, which was the home for the famous vet and author James Herriot.
  • A day in York. Firstly, we will enjoy a relaxing trip along the River Ouse and then free to enjoy the rest of the day, discovering the many treasures of York. Rich in ancient history, York is the renowned for its exquisite architecture, tangle of quaint cobbled streets, iconic York Minster and wealth of visitor attractions, including the National Railway Museum.
  • Today we will take a wonderful trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and a visit to the historic coastal town of Whitby, with its famous cliff-top Abbey. We will visit the small village of Goathland, which is more familiar as 'Aidensfield' in the TV series Heartbeat, whilst the railway station here was used as 'Hogsmeade' in the Harry Potter films.

Day 5
After a leisurely breakfast we will make our way home.
